Aglianico is the most widespread black grape variety in Sannio Beneventano. It perfectly identifies Samnite viticulture, having been cultivated for centuries in the province’s highest vocation areas, where it has adapted perfectly to the different hilly environments.<\/p>\n

The centuries-old cultivation of the vine has selected the Aglianico biotype Amaro, from which some of the most established and prestigious Sanniti wines are made, first and foremost the Aglianico del Taburno D.O.C.G. in red, ros\u00e9 (the only Italian D.O.C.G. ros\u00e9) and riserva types, produced in 13 Sanniti municipalities.<\/p>\n

But in addition to the Taburno area, Aglianico is the main grape variety in some remarkable wine productions, such as Sannio D.O.C. and in the subzones Sant’Agata dei Goti, Solopaca and Guardiolo.
\nRobust vine with fair bud fertility and abundant production. It adapts well to espalier training and to different rootstocks. It may show cases of green bunch millerandage, while it has good resistance to Botrytis, less so to powdery mildew. The sugar and acid levels of the must at harvest, which occurs between the first and third decade of October, are quite high.<\/p>\n

The sensory profile of the wine made from Aglianico grapes, shows a deep, vibrant ruby red color, tending to garnet with aging. The aroma is fine, complex with fruity notes of blackberry, plum, floral notes of violet, spicy notes of licorice, clove and black pepper. The taste is dry, tannic and with good structure and persistence. It is an important wine that goes well with structured dishes, red meats and non-spicy aged cheeses, but it is also an excellent meditation wine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
